Life in the USA

It’s been ages since I wrote a post about living in the states. Well it’s been 2 months since I’ve arrived here in Orlando, Florida. I am loving it so far! Lots of parties, there’s literally party buses every single night it’s insane! There’s all sort of parties like the paint party, foam party, Miami beach trips etc. I guess working for disney does have its perks.. We get discounted into clubs and sometimes free party buses! Enough talking il show you photos of what’s been happening..

Shanghai, China 2013

Shanghai day 1

Arrive at pudong international airport in shanghai at 7am. Waited around for mum and Alex’s plane to land. After they landed we caught the metro train to ‘najing east road’ where we stayed at this place called fish inn bund. It’s a really nice place! The metro train cost us 3 yuan each which was really cheap.. It was about 0 degree when we got to shanghai. So it was freezing! We went for a little walk around town and came back to the hotel and slept till the next morning.

Day 2

We woke up around 11am today. We took the metro to ‘yushuan garden’, the ticket cost 3 yuan per person. We got off the metro train and got kinda lost. So we started asking people for direction. We met these 3 Chinese girls who had really good English. They told us that ‘yushuan garden’ is really full at the moment and we should go abit later.. So they invited us to join them to this tea tasting thing. They were really friendly girls! We went to the tea tasting place and tried 6 different types of Chinese teas. After we walked back to ‘yushuan garden’ which consisted of lots and lots of shops and nice buildings.. We spent nearly the whole day at that place. It started snowing again, and it was getting way too cold, so we decided to call it a day and took the metro back to our hotel. It was a fun day, but just remember if your going to shanghai in January make sure to bring lots of winter clothes cos its blimin freezing!

Day 3

We woke up real late today so by the time we got ready half of the day was gone! We took the metro to the shanghai museum which is located in people’s square. It took us forever to find the museum. We asked so many different people and no one literally no one knew how to speak English! We finally saw a sign that says ‘shanghai museum’ and just followed the sign. We got there eventually. We walked into the 1st room and then the 2nd room and decided that we can’t be bothered anymore lol. It wasn’t that interesting… No wonder why it’s free. Well, there was like 4 levels and we never made it past level 1 so it may have been more interesting in the other levels… But we got too lazy and just wanted to leave. We left and went to this mall called ‘hongkong mall’, shopped around there for like 2 hours and took the metro to ‘the bund’. The bund is a famous area in shanghai where the oriental pearl tower is located. We brought tickets to go up the tower and to have a buffet dinner up there.. The ticket cost 318 yuan each for an adult and half that price for a child. So it’s a bit pricey but the food is really good! It’s worth it if your not ever gonna come back here. You and also go for lunch which is abit cheaper but night is more popular.. After about 2 hours of stuffing our face we finally left and headed back to the hotel. Today wasn’t as cold as yesterday. I was so prepared, I even wore my ski jacket and everything and yeah it didn’t even snow… Great!

Day 4

The next day we woke real late because we were all so tired. We woke up got ready and decided to walk over to the bund. The bund was beautiful, you can see the pearl tower clearly from the bund. Lots of good photo opportunities there. All the buildings were really unique as well, it felt like European buildings. We walked and walked and walked. Honestly don’t think I’ve walked this much my whole life haha. After the bund we took the train to this city to try and find this beautiful French building… After about 3 hours of walking around trying to find this building, we finally found it. But when we got there they were closed! So all that walking for nothing! We gave up and took the train back to a mall nearby our hotel and ate dinner there. After dinner we did abit more shopping and then called it a night as we were leaving early tomorrow.

Day 5

We woke up around 6am today as we had to be at the airport by 7am for our flight. We had the option of either catching a taxi from our hotel to the airport which would take like 2 hours to get there or take the bullet train to the airport which will get us there in 8 minutes! So yup we went of the bullet train, I think it at one point the speed went up to 457km/hr!! It was really cool though!
We arrived at the airport, checked in, ate, and I said goodbye to mum and alex and boarded my flight to New York!

Shanghai was fun! But it was freezing! So maybe don’t go in the middle of their winter like us lol.

Update: Disney international college program

Hey! So it’s been a while since I made a proper post update about my disney international program. As some of you may know I am currently working as a lifeguard here in Orlando at Walt disney world. I’ve been here for about 6 days now. I checked in moved into my apartment at vista way. We are living in a 3 bedroom apartment so there are 6 of us in this one apartment. My house mates are cool, 3 from Australia and 3 from NZ. I was meant to be starting traditions and training last week but ran into some problems.. So as lifeguards we had to get drug tested so all of us lifeguard had to do a urine test, 2 days later turns out my test has been contaminated or so something (whatever that means..) so they had to cancel my traditions class. Without participating in traditions you can’t start training or anything! So that fully sucks! Me and this other girl had to redo our drug test and here comes the best part, the long WAIT. One tip if you guys ever want to work at disney you have to be really patient! I mean it lol.
So I can’t do anything until my drug test results come back.. I decided to go on this Miami trip for the weekend with a group of people from Australia and Nz as well. We organized a driver ‘kecko’ (more about him later on) to get us there and to get us back the next day.

Miami was f*kn awesome! It was amazing! The beach was absolutely beautiful! There were so many people as well! The weather was hot ! I swear I went so black just after one day. When we arrived in Miami we checked in at this place called bikini hostel. Only cost us $20 US each per night and the room we had was pretty decent as well. We were on south beach and was like a 10min walk from the beach! When we were tanning on the beach a few promo guys approached us telling us about these deals that they have for tonight. We managed to suss out a deal with this guy called ‘Jason’. The deal was $25 each it included unlimited drinks from 10pm -12am. Also a party bus came and picked us up and dropped us off to 2 clubs.. The catch was we had to find our own way back home. It was a pretty good deal if I think about it now. But be warned dont go with any guy you meet in Miami called ‘Jason’.. Apparently jason is wanted by the police for rape charges and stuff etc.. So be warned lol. We managed to go to 2 bars and I can’t really remember the rest of the night. I sobered up by the end and me and 3 other girls caught a cab back to our hostel. One girl was drunk off her face! She couldn’t even walk so we literally had to drag her out and push her into the cab! It was an awesome weekend in Miami until…

Well remember our driver ‘kecko’? Yes him. He came picked us up at like 5pm the next day to take us back to Orlando. Well he came, but he was drunk, we didn’t notice anything until about 30mins into his driving.. He was hitting poles, merging into other lanes! He was just drunk! So we were concerned about our safety and told him to pull over, so he did. We called the company that he works for and asked if they can send us another driver. The company is based in Orlando, so for another driver to come out to pick us up we’ll have to wait for 2 and a half hours. One of the girls got back in our car and drove to a nearby hotel where we could use the Internet and phone and get some help. Once she stopped at the parking lot about 2 mins away from the hotel he fully grabbed the keys and went back to the front seat. He was about to drive away with the money we have already given him! We managed to get all our bags out in time and we were all yelling at him to stop and give our money! It was insane! Never thought this would ever happen to us. We called the cops and everything but there’s not much that they can do. He just did a runner on us that bastard! So we were left stranded at the hotel not knowing how we will get back to Orlando. Some of us start work training the next morning so we had to get back for that. The company that kecko works for was really nice to us and told us that they are sending another driver to come and pick us up. So meanwhile all 7 of us were sitting in the lobby of this 5 star hotel in fort launderdale.. The ladies there were really nice and took care of us. She even gave us a 50% discount of the food we ate at their restaurant! So we were really lucky to run into really nice and friendly people out here!
Our new driver eventually came and picked us up and we were on our way back to Orlando again, we arrived back at vista way at about 2.30am..

Oh don’t trust a guy called KECKO!

All in all it was a fun, adventurous, exciting weekend packed with all the dramas you would never thought will happen to you. We made it to Miami, partied away and made it back to Orlando safely… Only just though!
